Looking at other people’s facebook pages makes me depressed (What should I do?)?

Everyone, or at least it seems that way- seems to have an active shared life. They have pictures of them hanging out with their friends, their girlfriends, parties etc… They sometimes mention where they work, what kind of car they own (Although not too often cause people my age (20) typically don’t have high paying jobs or fancy cars just yet)

All I can tell you in this area myself is that I’m a guy, I’m 20- I attend institution full-time here at the local institution near my home. I don’t have much; my family is poor – I seldom eat luxury foods or eat out- I generally often eat cheap foods that are filling like Oatmeal and Eggs which are a cornerstone of my diet.

I don’t have a job. Don’t have a car. Never did. I just take the public transit bus everyday to institution and I pay for it via leftover money from my pell grant that I hear from my institution.

I’m a pretty dedicated apprentice. I spend hours on campus when I don’t even need too. I might only have 1 class on Monday that’s 1 hour long at 9am but i typically get to my institution at 8am to study for an hour prior to class then spend the remaining time after class to brief over the new existence notes and just sit in the cafeteria bored out of my mind…

Sometimes i wait hours just for someone to strike a conversation with me (and it happens once in a blue moon) Usually i make my way home back on the 1:13 or 2:13 pm bus after dull myself to death in the cafeteria for hours and after i end my lunch.

I walk home off the bus stop, im fornate to only live a 1/2 hour walk from my bus stop. In my past home it used to take me a small over an hour walk home and hey it was rough – when your in florida and the weather outside is over 90 degrees outside plus humidity – it really takes a beating on ya.

Sometimes when I look at other people’s facebooks and I see their parent’s home (fancy furniture painting, huge, and so on and so forth) then i just look at my own quandary (my kitchen has particle wood cabinets, popcorn ceiling, its only 1 bedroom really)

i mean they have so much more than me… sometimes i question myself “Why me?” – other kids in my situation might handle life in my shoes differently; they might go out, hang out with the incorrect crowd and get into drugs etc… but that’s not me at all.

There’s nothing more in the world I desire than a excellent education and to make myself get somewhere in the world. There’s no doubt in my mind that I want to be a success tale and live a life beyond anyone’s imagination. I have a 3.6 GPA in institution- I have a natural knack for writing and consistently get A’s on my essays.

I just wish I had some… LIFE in my life if that makes sense to ya. A group of people I could call my own. Not just having to spend so much of my life alone drowning in my own thoughts and dreams…

Personaly, Don’t believe everything you see or hear on facebook. many people on there make a virtual lifestyle that they hide behind, because they can’t accept reality. as you can tell I am Not a believer in facebook, never have and never will. so my advice to you is rub out your facebook acct., especially if it’s causing you depression. even though circumstances may be hard for you, continue to strive to better yourself, and find or make a realistic shared life that you are satisfied with. right it may be hard to do immidiatly but this comes in time. You are not alone in your circumstances and feelings and you might be surprised to find friends or a unique person in your life that you can relate to. but again, don’t base your life according to what others described theirs to be on facebook. You will be much more pleased living a realistic life with a realistic person(mate) than you will a virtual life and relationship. hope i have helped and wish you the best, and remember, never give up.
